experience backpackers boutique in cape town
On December 7th 2007, 33 South Boutique Backpackers will open its doors for the first time. Situated in the heart of Cape Town, Observatory, is a truly "local and lekker," exciting place to be as it is well connected, and currently the place for students and local "Capetonians" to meet.
"Boutique Backpackers" is a new concept which describes 33 South's ideal: a trendy, themed, stylish, clean, comfortable (boutique) establishment which still maintains the key features of a great backpackers: it's homely, communal, affordable, safe and has a self catering option. We invite you to see Cape Town through local eyes, and experience it as a proud South African would.
who are we?
Having lived and travelled extensively around the world, Kim Whitaker returned to her roots in Cape Town at the beginning of 2007, bringing with her the flavours and adventures of her travels, she joined forces with Cindy Taylor to establish Cape Town’s most unique backpackers.
Cindy Taylor, a small-town-girl from East London fell in love with Cape Town’s rhythm and vibrant energy while studying psychology at the University of Stellenbosch. Cindy’s biggest passion, is working with people. Having trained under and worked with a variety of Cape Town’s top chefs and Restaurant owners, while a manager at Caveau restaurant at the Mill, Cindy brings an unsurpassable knowledge of the gastronomy industry to this dynamic team.
It was in Stellenbosch (situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands) while working at one of South Africa’s top Wine estates, Waterford, that both women realised their shared passion for South African wine, home-cooked food and most importantly: great company. After four years of hands on experience in the field, they saw an opportunity to invest this passion into creating a place of their own.
